About Azzi & Osta

the story behind
Azzi & Osta

Azzi & Osta is the brainchild of designer duo, George Azzi & Assaad Osta. The two were born in 1986 and each grew to nourish his creative urges through various influences.

As far as George can remember, he sees himself collecting scraps his tailor grandmothers used to hand him and sewing them into intricate patterns and forms. But the decisive event in Azzi’s aesthetics was his discovery of surrealist art. He found in this movement the ideal reconciliation between dream and reality, absurd and logic...

Assaad’s universe was prone to design early on. His mother, dissatisfied with what mainstream fashion had to offer, used to sew her own dresses and spend countless hours adjusting the garments to achieve the perfect fit. Striving for perfect would lead the way in Osta’s artistic quest during his adolescent years, when he became fascinated with classical music and Film Noir, both “very elusive, always out of reach”.

The duo would then carry their design influences and enroll into Esmod Beyrouth in 2004 upon completing their high school studies.

Esmod offered the ideal burgeoning ground for their young talents and allowed them to refine their fashion vision. Upon presenting their final collections, Azzi received the Prize of The President of The Jury Mr. Elie Saab and Osta was awarded the Prize of The Jury. Their diplomas and awards in hand, they both landed the positions of Assistant Designers at Elie Saab Fashion House.

Enriched with their 18 months internship under the patronage of Mr. Elie Saab himself, they set out to create Azzi & Osta in the bustling Beyrouth’s art scene where they quickly established the Azzi & Osta signature style : a style highlighted with its challenging conceptual volumes that are vintage in soul.
