RÊVE FLAMAND

Travel, even through dreams: Drift and get carried away. The pandemic that distanced us from the outer world last spring, inspired AZZI & OSTA’s duo designers to escape closed doors through their unparalleled imagination transporting them to navigate the endless canals of Amsterdam. This obsessive escape was first centered around the tulip, its vivid colors, its fascinating frills and then extended to the infinite palette of colorful fields and the joy it sparked for the two creators to contribute to the enchantment of their world. In the absence of any exterior, the collection has been photographed at Maison Degournay in Beirut. There, the walls covered with paper or fabric, painted or embroidered with landscapes of floral or bucolic inspiration, some borrowed from the great currents of interior design or from artists of all eras, offered an ideal field to develop around dresses of endless narratives.

Concerto Greigii

Named after the ‘Concerto Greigii’ tulip. An offwhite sculptural double satin draped bust with offshoulder half-bows inspired by dutch windmills, over a sheer fishtail tulle skirt, embellished by a shower of Organza petals and beaded raindrops.

Letter to Vermeer

Inspired by the famous 1663 painting of Johannes Vermeer, “Woman reading a Letter”, this minimal Trapeze waistless dress, in Airy blue silk faille, is a couture depiction of the serenity and romance of Vermeer’s masterpiece. Structured bell sleeves, in line with the dress shape, are heavily embroidered with diamond shaped tulle and organza ruffles and Charleston bead tassels, inspired by the roofs of flemish architecture.

Vincent’s Vase

Is an attempt to translate the admiration for Vincent Van Gogh’s 1890 ‘Roses’ into Couture. From here the creation of an hourglass silhouette that depicts the vase feel and color blocks in different textures, with the ingenious green shades combination of Van Gogh’s masterpiece, from the light emerald silk faille over skirt and shawl, to the spring green crepe bustier and the many tones in between. Silk organza flowers adorn the corset over weaving-like silk organza peplum. The sculptural overskirt features a fold and a pocket flap that imitates 1950’s tailored jackets.

Orange Royal

Named after the Netherlands Royal House of Orange, and inspired by the ‘Orange Princess’ tulips. An orange silk faille look, a cropped tailored jacket, with an oversized Puritan inspired collar trimmed with pearl motifs and pendants, cinched on the waist by a buckled faille belt, over a short sculptural fluffy faille skirt from the front and a long tail from the back. The waist is embellished with goldwork and pearl baroque motifs.
